Components for under $200?

I am buying my speakers soon (possibly tonight)

I need to keep my components under $200 (I am firm on this)

I have tried to go to the local shops and listen to them, but the sound boards are

A) nothing like a car soundstage

B) always broken or hooked up incorrectly by the slubs that work there

C) they will only play rap which (im my opinion of course) makes anything sound bad.

Thus I am guessing.

How about the

Polk db6500?

Alpine SPS171A
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lxzKZrN...0&I=500SPS171A

And some guy in Circuit City swears by Kickers

Any opinions?

3rd Generation

Kickers are a JOKE. Buy their subs if you want but NOT and other type of speaker. Buy the Alpines. They sound great with a small amp to them. And, pretty good with out one. As for the the ebay thing ... PASS on it.

Get the alpines.

Search on Google for Elemental Designs 6000 component set. Excellent quality at a great price.

I installed a pair of those....

I'd look elsewhere myself.

For under 200, I'd get a set of JL XR650CSI components off ebay.

It's a REALLY bad idea to buy JL Audio products on the internet. If you like to shop on the net, do yourself a favor and buy brands that authorize internet sales.

Honestly, I would rather pay an extra $50 to support an acutal brick and mortar business. The ebay/wallmart price shopper attitude is distroyoing our economy.......

If you can find those for 250 at a local shop, that's a great deal. I've bought tons of stuff like this off ebay and had no problems.

Cam, I retract my last comment, I was comparing apples to oranges. Tweeter has them for $399........

Screw the economy!

You pay your taxes...

Let's see.. Pay half price for the same product and get only a distributors inhouse warranty..or Pay twice as much and get a JL warranty.

That other 200 bucks just got you an amp or headunit, etc...

My top two choices for components in the 200-250 range are the Alpine Type-X and the JLXR650CSI.

However I'd much rather wire active and go DIY and get way better quality for around the same price.

A pair of Seas G18RN/X Found here will run you about 120 bucks plus shipping. Then

http://www.solen.ca/sea.htm

And a Pair of these.

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/ind....18816&pid=635

or these if you prefer a metal dome tweeter.

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/ind....18816&pid=637

But this route is not easy and requires a 3 way crossover and 4 channels of amplification(one channel for each individual speaker)

JL XR650CSI it is.....

Done deal....

I listened to them in Tweeter and I was between the Focal 165V1 and these..

I liked the smoothness of these a bit better, so in they go!

I don't know if you can still get Ascendan Audio Arcos or not, but those are supposed to be real sweet. But the release has been delayed for about a month now due to some problems with Vifa so it's uncertain if they will even sell those.

Those 26NA aluminum tweeters look like diamond audio tweeters. for 200 bucks, you could probably get the Focal Access series components from ebay. Those speakers sound really good to me for the price. And if you can afford it, think about getting the Focal Polyglass components.

Thanks but the JL comps are on the way. I thought they offered more detail in the soundboard. But as we all know, that has no bearing on how they will sound in my truck. Any of these suggestions are really good, so I am sure any of them will sound fantastic in my little "Dori"

Is it possible to install the crossovers in the kick panels? That may be a cool place to put them.
