Getting my amp to turn off with my stock head unit

How would I go about getting my amp to turn off with my stock head unit? I have it wired to the ignition now, because there is no remote lead out of the back of a 05 Taco stock unit. My only need to change the stock unit is becuase the amp stays on all the time and makes this hiss through the speakers while driving (with the radio off).

If there is a way to have the amp turn off at the same time as the radio, that would solve my head unit problem.....

I have heard of people putting the remote lead to a fuse or something???

Thanks all!

Setting the amplifier input sensitivity correctly will go a long way toward reducing noise floor in general.
You can get an amp that has signal sensing turn on and it will behave the way you want it to.

What color wire are you connecting the amps turn on lead to?

I was told when I first hooked all this up, that the ignition wire (I don't remember the color (orange mabye?) was the only one that would work. So when I turn the truck on, the amp comes on, and when the truck is off (but the key is still in the acc post.) the amp in on, but if I turn the key to off, the amp goes off with the rest of the electiral.

Make sure the amps turn on wire is connected to the thin grey wire on the back of the headunit.

Looking at the harness from the back you need to connect with the #8 pin point
(this pic is missing the wire but this is the one you need.)
I believe the #7 is the power antenna pin so inless you want the amp to turn off when the radio is off (cd or casette is on) don't use #9 If you are also using a stock amp then the connection will be on the stock amp and not the radio.

Here's another question.

Is it possible to add a wire to a harness? Can I get one of those little clips that jam a wire in the plastic plug in the #8 slot should I find that I don't have a wire lead there?

All you have to do is splice into the thin grey wire from the back of the headunit.

Yes, If you are missing the wire you can stich a new terminal in.
