Suggestions for a friend

So my friend comes up to me the other day and shows me a best buy magazine with some alpine type-e subs, box and small amp, for 400 dollars?!..not saying this are bad but appareantly its a package deal, which I immediatly decided sucked considering the price. I told him it was a bad idea and that he could easily get something better for the same price. After seeing how much money i spent on my system hes not so confident that ill be able to just get him something decent for a good price. Really this kid doesnt expect much apparently, not many of the kids at my school know about anything worth a crap, nor do they care. But I'm gonna try and help my friend out and get him the best he can for this price.

I was already looking in on the overstock Image Dynamics speakers on ebay. $65 bucks for a 12" is not bad at all! And besides, this kid has got a jeep cherokee so subs are gonna be loud no matter what with the huge airspace. If you can give me any other sudjestions on some cheap good quality subs besides these Image Dynamics please let me know. Also the box is not of much concern just some cheap crappy one will do this kid. He is not intense in this in any sort of way.

Finally this kid needs an amp. Now I know all about expensive good quality, but when it comes to a cheapo with good quality ,im not sure where to look. There are plenty of off brand crap ones but I'd like to get him something at least decent. That way he can thank me when his subs bump damn hard. So think of it this way, a noob audio man that just likes hard hitting bass? ez enough right. So really this kid doesnt need a whole lot to get a rise out of him i dont think. I definatly want to get him an amp that has more than enough powe rofr the subs (dont worry ill be hooking it up and calibrating it, so the gain wont be messed with and screw up his speakers). So anyways Can you please give some sudjestions on some good quality amps, at a cheap price.

All in all I would say your budget here is around 400-500

And this includes:

SUBS - 2 12's (this is what he wants, unless majority favors differently - 250rms would work I dont think he'll need much besides after that range they bump in price pretty quickly)

AMP - Should probably be in the 600 watt range if at all possible, just so he has more power but not much

BOX - Not really too concerned at this, but im not sure wether a ported or sealed would be more appropriate?

WIRING - Not to concerned about this either, some cheap stuff will work

And thats about it. I kinda alreayd looked around but it seems that there are far too many cheapo crappy amps to choose from, when really id like to keep to something that is worth a shit. Even though this isnt my system, I still wanna show this kid that it is possible to have a good system for not alot of money. BTW he is not interested in speaker upg. not yet anyways.. we'll see if we can change his mind later. But thanks to anyone who helps out in advance i appriciate it

all in all, i've had much better luck with sealed enclosures. usually when you get a ported box, it doesnt fit the type of subs/wattage/amp you have, so you'd have to customize the port yourself. my first box i got was a simple 12" enclosure, but it had like a port that was 4" in diameter...i listened to it for maybe 30 seconds and decided to cover up the hole, and afterwards it sounded about 10x better. a port is understandable to me if you have maybe two 600W subs, and even then the hole should only be about 3" in diameter max. As for wiring, you're pretty much right, anything should work for cheap...although even if you get a low wattage setup, always buy the wiring package rated for higher wattage. about an amp: see what you can find in the 800W range and maybe some 300W pioneer subs, that would sound decent. and you're right about the jeeps, subs sound pretty good in them.

Here is the site.. they have plenty more.. 10's 12's 15's and in the 250watt rms one and 350 rms ones. The weaker ones are 65 for 12's and the stronger are 100

Get two of those plus this amp:
http://www.exilecaraudio.com/exile/?...s&model=X600.1

Get the dual four subs, wire all the VC in parallel for 1 ohm load. Use the amp above for 600W RMS @ 1 ohm.

Sounds good but how do you buy that amp? haha and how much does it cost. Remember were working with a pretty tight budget here.

I have a brand new MB Quart RAA2400 for sale. Does 800 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, and it's Class AB

200 plus shipping if you want it.
