4th Generation $450 for amp, 6.5 front comps, and HU, ideas?

So yeah, for my Gen4 97 Camry, I'm looking to spend $450 for 6.5 front components, a 2-chn amp for that, and a HU. Is the new HU going to work fine with the rear 6x9? I heard there's a chance that the HU might give too much power or something to the rear and blow them up.

Any suggestions on what to get? I'm looking for SQ over SPL mainly.

Your H/U shoudl not blow your back speakers, and even if it does dont worry about it because your fronts will be making 99% of the noise anyways. As for some comps.. ill leave that to someone else for now. You can get a pretty damn good setup with $400. Sry i couldnt be of help I dont have time to talk right now.

Some people may disagree, but 450 is asking a lot for an amp, components, and a deck. A decent deck will cost you about 200 bucks. A decent component system will cost you around 200 bucks...and a decent amp will cost you around 200 bucks. And the wiring and other misc stuff will cost you another 30+ bucks.

I agree, you main need to set 450 a little higher if you want a decent system. However, you can get probably something like an alpine or kenwood head for 100-120.. get a set of pioneer comps for 100 or so, and then you'll have 200 dollars left for a decent amp....

do you really want an amp without a sub? it seems like it might not be the most frugal idea... a decent head unit will power the main speakers for normal listening.. (if you like to listen loud maybe not.)

The route I would go with that budget would be to upgrade the front speakers now, and possibly the head unit and then save up for a decent amp.

But would the new HU I get be good enough to power something like Rainbow Soundlines or so? I don't want them blowing up before I get an amp or anything.

As long as you don't go crazy with the volume causing the signal to clip, the speakers will not be damaged. But otherwise, they should run fine with the power from the head unit.
