The JLs are awesome. The detail is really impressive. I am hearing all sorts of things that I never noticed before.
After all the $ on the stereo, I don't have enough to upgrade my TN membership to post pictures.
Besides, once I got going, I wasn't going to slow down to take a picture.
Here's the breakdown.
I mounted the mid/bass in tacotunes baffles. IN order to make a nice seal, I split some light guage 1/4' surgical tubing (we it for octo holders in the diving industry) and lined the mounting hole. It acted like a gasket so it's nice and sealed as well as isolated from some shock.
JL tweeters replaced the stock stinkers in stock locations.
I opened up the doors and placed two layers on the outer skin "cross pattern".
Sealed the inner door with some cheap "yard sale" signs from Home Depot and placed another two layers.
On top of that I put a full layer of foam (the self adhesive stuff from edead).
The inside of the plastic door panel also recieved all the same treatment for good measure.
All the wiring was replaced with 02 free 16 guage speaker wire. Ran new Monster power cables (install kits on sale for $19.99! and radio shack)
Placed amp, and crossovers behind driver side of bench seat.
Ran a new RCA around for the amp, and split the output so I can run both 1/2 (mains) and 3/4 (bridged for the sub) (which is
for now a 12 year old tube from my old truck

)
and last but not least, put in a Scosce dash kit with a new headunit (which will be swapped out by the end of the week, because I went against my better judgement and bought a sony which is already screwing up). (Yup, Sony is utter shit)
It's truly amazing how much road noise was eliminated by only treating the doors. Now I have to decide what to deaden next. Back cab wall and floor? Suggestions?
