(1) wire each sub to individual channel of A3, 2-ohm each, 270w each, or
(2) wire both subs to bridged channel of A3, 1-ohm total, 1000w for both
Is one way preferrable than other? I think (2) will provide much power than the sub's spec but can that be compensated by lower gain setting? Thanks for any input.

I think 500 watts is a little over power handling(although you could compensate with lowering the gain). You are putting the subs in seperate sealed enclosures right? If so, I'd go the stereo route and wire each sub to two ohms.
I would bridge the A4 to run the front's only, disconnect the rear speakers. If keeping the stock headunit, use a Navone LOC. What headunit are you using?
that is same as my plan, to bridge the A4 for the front.
I will get a headunit. That's why I asked in your thread about differences between 980, 880, and 780
Between 980 and 780, I will probably choose the 780 since blue-tooth is no use for me. 780 no pro-mode but full color display. Hmm, I have time that I don't need to decide now. I will see their prices when they are widely available to compare 780, 880 or 860 (2005 model).

Oh dude, you gotta go wit hthe 880PRS That's the only deck I think that is even considerable for a high end system...Unless you are going to stay with the passive crossovers. Then the 780 will do ok. It's got the 24Bit Burr Brown DAC's...But IMO get the 880PRS
Well I will start with passive but I would also like the option for active in future. If the price on ebay indicates anything, there isn't big price difference between 780mp and 880prs. If true, 880prs sounds good!
Are you going to get one too to replace your pioneer, no wait, clarion, no wait... what do you have now
