Eclipse VS. Pioneer LOL
Eclipse all the way those are the highest quality head units you can buy, Except for a Denon, or Nakamichi, but both of those just look retarted. Eclipse does last a very long time too I had my Eclipse 7002 from when it first came out and just sold it around last christmas for a new Eclipse indash DVD/CD player. NOTHING COMPARES TO ECLIPSE!!!!!!!!!!
ECLIPSE

I would I have tryed pretty much everything out on the market that is comparable (Alpine, Pioneer Premier, Clarion, Blaupaunt, Panasonic) that is at your local stores, but for HIGHEND head units ( Denon, Nakamichi, Eclipse) Eclipse just b/c they look better. I got rid of my Denon just b/c it looked so TACKY (my stock unit looked better).

I have a small business here in Japan where I buy dead nav/audio units, then fix 'em and sell 'em. Most of the units I work on are five to ten years old, so I can tell you what the quality USED to be like. Panasonic and Sony were the top of the heap. The internal components were generally of high quality, and rarely failed. Usually a lens cleaning is all that's required. Pioneer was a close second. Eclipse was the worst. The mechanical components were flimsey, ribbon cables often broke, CD loaders broke. I'd buy the Pioneer if past quality is anything to go on.
Alpine? I rarely get a chance to work on them, because they never break.
i personally sell these screens at my job, so i guess i gotta vouch for the eclipse. better screen resolution,i think they give you a little bit more sound selection as well. also, if your hooking up satellite radio, ive seen the n2 and some of other pioneers screens have trouble accepting it.
