How much RMS power is enough to power 2 JL 12W3 subs?????

I'm getting 2 JL 12W3, and i was wondering how much RMS power is enough to power those subs. i also want to know how much power would be enough to power 6.5 mb quarts speakers and 6/9 pioneer speakers. i really appreciate it if somebody could help.

the speakers usually have an RMS power rating on them.. just make sure that you don't OVER power them.. the power rating usually means the maximum power you could put to them before they go boom!

for each JL 12w3 sub is 250watts. so i was wodering about how much RMS power is enought to play loud, but it doesnt blow. cuz i heard some people say dont overpower it due to the fact that too much power in amp can blow the subs. but on the other hand, i hear some people say if u underpower it, when u play, loud amp tries to produce more power and as a result, both amp and subs can blow.
another thing that concern me is that for the speakers. im trying to get mb quarts in the front and pioneer in the back, and i was also wondering how much power is enought to play loud, but again, i dont want to blow the speaker s. so i really appreciate it if somebody could give me some explanation.

JL subs are usually really reliable and rugged, so they will take a lot of power before they blow. just pump good clean power into em and you will be fine. there is actually a really good chart at the JL website:

JL Power Range Chart

You can download it as a PDF at the bottom of the page. that will give you a really good idea as to how much power you can get away with feeding your subs.

as for the front and back speaks, find out what the RMS is for the speakers, and find a good 4 channel amp to match. it sounds like you have a really good setup lined up for yourself.

are you going to do any of the install yourself?

i dont know too much about underpowering the subs, but i woudnt worry TOO much about it. i have 2 12" WO subs wired for mono powered by a 280 watt RMS amp right now, and they pound just fine. At the JL Dealer where i got my subs, they had exactly the same setup running as i do, but they were powering it off of JL's 500/1 amp. JL subs fucking rule. anyway, i think i remember the guy at the dealer telling me not to worry about underpowering the subs. if im wrong, please someone correct me, but otherwise, happy bumping!

JL subs eat wattage like i eat....well never you mind that but dont worry about under or over powereing JL subs, JL rates their subs very well and they can definately take more than the RMS rating is. But give them good power cause they deserve it.

Actually you can go over the RMS rating of the speakers. And fyi, its more damaging to have a too small amp than a too big one
