2nd Generation Amplifier Opinions For Wiring ACTIVE

Hey, I am really close to having everything ready for my 4 way active setup.

The stuff I bought so far are:

1. Tweeter: Focal TN46
2. Midrange: 4" speakers that came out from the JL xr653-cs 3 way component set
3. Midbass: Seas 7" CA18RNX
4. Sub: Ebay 12" Image Dynamics OEM

Now as for the amps, I was thinking of buying a pair of Diamond Audio d5300.4. Where I would use one amp for the Focal tweets and JL midranges and the second amp for the Seas midbass and the ID Sub (3/4 channels Bridged).

If i have enought money I might upgrade to the d5 600.4 for the midbass/sub...

Do you guys think this is a good idea? btw i have an Eclipse HU

The diamond amps are ok but are pretty big for the amount of power they put out. They do have bandpass crossover's which is good if you need another set of crossovers(which you will)

What Eclipse headunit are you using? What kind of price are you finding on the Diamond amp?

The Eclipse HU that I have is the CD3403...It's nothing fancy and basic looking but thats the way I like it lol.

As for the cost on the Diamond Amps...they are on Ebay for about 150 plus whatever shipping it may be brand new. There is a listing which is over soon for a d5600.4 but it starts at $250...no bids so far with hrs left...but still thinking about it since im on a budget.

Well you're going to need a seious processor for this setup with that headunit.

I would look into an Audicontrol 4XS or a 3XS. 4 way active and budget don't really go together.

You may want to try the Seas Mid + Focal tweeter setup for now and hold off on using the JL 4" midranges. The Seas mid will play clean up to 3khz.

You can do a combination of crossover points using the headunit and the Diamonds bandpass crossovers, or the Diamonds alone. Gotta look into that one.

Not the best way to do it, but it will work.

I like having all the control at the headunit, my Pioneer DEH-P880PRS does a great job at handling ALL the crossover points needed for my 2 way active setup.

Maybe sell the Eclipse and get the 880PRS

The 8445, 8455, and 8053 have 3 way crossover for wiring active. Any 5 series and below don't.

Woohoo! Now I am a new owner of a Pioneer DEH-P880PRS. This thing looks sexy and I hope I get a chance to install it tomorrow! This is just one step closer to getting everything I need for an active setup...

I also just purchased a Zapco studio 100 which does 50 x 2...I am going to use that amp for my tweeters...

As for a 4 channel amp, I am deciding on either a Diamond Audio d5 600.4 ($200 shipped) or a MBQuart Raa4200 (250 shipped) both are slighly used...

Which one should I get?
