suggestions for 6.5" front components

Hello everyone I was wondering if I could get a recommendation on some nice front components for my solara, looking to spend between $100-$200, whats the best set under 100 and under 200ish? I'm currently running a pioneer DVH-p5000mp headunit on stock jbl's, and a kenwood kac-7201 to an audiobahn 12" AW1251T. I'm going to upgrade the sub later on but that's on a lower priority as of now. And as for the headunit, its only 22w rms per channel so I either want to go with components that can run well off of that or spend less money on components and add an amp to help power those. Thx in advance everyone.

if you wnat a good system i would recommend just waiting untill you can afford better highs and mids. and yes the best way to go is having a seperate amp for your frots and backs, but anyway try the some pioneer speakers or infinity. but if you are willing to spend some money i would go with the new zapco speakers. the best speakers i have heard in a long time.

try mb quarts. i have a set of components in the front and 2ways in the back and my car sounds amazing. they aren't too expensive on ebay and you have a choice to bid or buy it now.

edit* they start from 100 to 500 depending on the series. reference series are about 125 usd and those are they ones i use.

CDT-EF61 with 1" tweeters. About $220 or so, I'm getting them installed saturday, I'll tell you how it is.

I love JL speakers although I'm not crazy about their subs. You might try Mpyre Audio, they're way more performance oriented than you probably need but then you won't need to upgrade for a long time (how's 12mm of xmax on a mid sound to you).

A/D/S/ is kinda an oldschool company now but all of their gear is top notch and sound great.

MB quarts are just fine and most people like em, I got a pair that retailed for 700 for 285 on the net, if given the chance again I wouldn't spend 50 bucks on them, they sounded fine but had an fs of 80hz and absolutley no mid bass or bass whatsoever (this was the Q series their top of the line. The other series seem to have better bass yet worse tweeters.

Diamond Audio 3 series or 6 series are made really well, I've seen em absued for years without anything going wrong. They're made way better than most brands.

keep in mind easily 50% of how it sounds is based on your install (not talking amps or anything like that)

The thing with the MB Quarts is that you should run them active. The passive crossovers are the weak point.

They have plenty of midbass if setup properly. The tweeters are also VERY nice when installed correctly(Off Axis in the A Pillars and crossed over at 3.15hz/-24db slope)

The inexspensive PCE-216 has the same tweeter in the QSD set, and can be had for ~250.

If I had to go with a passive component set, I'd probably get the Alpine Type-X Components, based off the Vifa XT-19 tweeter and XT mids. Very smooth unharsh sound with adequate midbass, not great midbass, but nice.

I recommend speakers by Elemental Designs. Especially for the $$ you are looking to spend, you would be wasting it on big company products. Elementals stuff is unbeleivable and the savings you get since they are an internet only company makes it even better.

I have their subs in my Camry and will soon be adding their high end compnents. Now I said high end....they are only $250!!!! One of the car mags (dont remember which one) has had several very positive reviews of there equipment.

And everyone talking about MB quart and Diamond. Yes, 2-5 years ago these companies were the #@&*, but both have been bought by larger companies and not made quite like they used to be. Still decent speakers, but they are just using the name to sell inferior equipment.

Same thing that happened to Kicker and Rockford Fosgate in the late 90's.

Elemental website is edesignaudio.com
