ever since ive gotten my new indash dvd my system has been clipping probably cuase of the low 2v preamp outputs...now my question is if i get a stronger amp for my mids will that help with the clipping since i wont have to raise the gain to much???
cheap ass amp. alphasonik....the gain right now is in the middle. even if i lower it, it still clips
The gain control is used to match the output of the headunit to the input sensitivity of the amp. If your system played loud enough without audible clipping using the old headunit, I can't see any reason for it not to with the new headunit as long as the gain was set properly. BTW, is there a clipping indicator light on the amp or do you actually hear it? If it is in fact clipping to an extent where it is audible before playing to the level you want it to play then it does appear you may need a more powerful amp (as long as the speakers can handle it ).
^well my old unit gave a 4v output. i can hear the audio clipping and no my amp doesnt have a clipping indicator. when it starts clipping im forced to lower the volume.....so i was right on getting a stronger amp right?? as long as the speakers can handle it like you said
