how would you bridge a MONO amp? MONO meaning ONE it only has one channel, for instance my Directed 1100D amp has two speaker terminals however, if you look at its circuit board you will see that it is fused together, thus making it MONO, if you want to get a bridge going first you need at least a 2 channel amp
I understand that now. I was just wondering if a mono amp is better than the bridgeable ones. I'm only planning on powering 1 sub - leaning towards a Idv3 10" sub...
thanks for the advice cam. I've been checking this amp out, and it seems reasonably priced to run the sub I'm looking at. I'm kinda leary since it's not a known (to me) amp.
Another reason why I like 2 channel amps for subs...If you ever upgrade to a bigger/more subs, you can use this amp for tweeters or something and get a bigger amp for the sub(s).
I do need to mention that there are class AB mono amps as well, in fact I use a Mono amp on my sub. Class Ab though
well, while researching, I read somewhere that the class A's suck, the Ab's are good, and the D's are the best, which was what prompted my first question. Seems you're prefering the ab. Any particular reason why?

Dunno where you are reading, but that is all ass backwards. Pure Class A's are mucho dinero and very clean, but run very hot and are not efficient.
Class AB is good. Stick with Class AB,
Class D is for SPL, typically you will get more power out of a smaller amp so class D has it's place.
In your case where you only need ~400 watts, class ab is the way to go.
