poor fm signal

I recently had an Alpine cd stereo with I pod hook up installed in my wifes 98 runner. The fm signal is a lot worse than the stock unit. The guys at car toys say thats the take away when you get the affordable cd and i pod features, 2oo.$ They offered to try another deck but still the same static. Now they say a Pioneer deck may get better reception, can anyone help this electronic retard.

This is weak reception, and I'am getting the feeling this is the norm with modern stereos. Tuner box or modulator Iam confused about your focus this is an every day stereo cd deck for a automobile that doesnt get fm reception anywhere close to a 98 factory stereo. Do I have to spend a ton more of money to still listen to radio stations or do I have to upgrade something else. Thanks.

you could prolly check the antenna wire and make sure its intact. a damaged connection would cause poor reception.
