Speaker and OEM Head Unit Question

Hi Guys,
I am new here, and have a question. We just got a 2001 Camry. It still has the stock stereo system in it, which really does not sound terrible for a stock system. I am used to a better system though. My truck has a Pioneer HU, JL XR 5.25 speakers, Kicker VR sub and an older Alpine 6 channel amp running it all. Not the best, but far from the worst.
Anyway, I have an older pair of Kenwood 6X9 coax speakers I was wondering about putting in the rear deck. I know that usually the after market speakers will sound better than oem, but I am wondering if the OEM HU will sufficiently power them. My guess is that the stock system is some what specially matched. If they will work, will they just drop in, otr is there a bit of work to do. The stock speakers look like 6X9, but I am not sure. I also have a brand new pair of JL XR 6.5 speakers(that I bought for $80) that I would like to put in the doors someday when I can get another amp and a new HU.
Thanks for any input.

Ron

I think that most aftermarket speaker makers, especially when designing coax (two or three ways) allow for the end user to simply plug-and-play as most "mainstream aftermarket" stereos involve maybe a HU and some upgraded coaxes, and thats it, so they're designed to be run off of little power (generally the HU's internal amp), so to put it breifly, you would be fine power wise.

Although since you already have the JL 6.5s, you might want to think just amping them and running a front stage alone. Having the 6x9s pulling your stage back might not be ideal, but whatever floats your boat. Are the JLs comps or coaxes?

And also, in the end, amping your speakers moreso than your HU is capable of giving allows more output from your speakers (provided the amp can supply it) so regardless, you might want to consider amping whatever speakers you do put in.
