Bluetooth Handsfree & Kenwood HU dont mix??

Howdy all,

Got a bit of a sticky one in my Pulsar. Just installed a bluetooth HF system and it seems to be playing up a little.

Firstly - this was installed all to the correct specifications. But when i turn the car to accessories and push a button on the HF, the radio cuts out. Then i need to push the reset button on the radio to get it to work again. Seems strange that it would do this, unless for some reason it is draining the power out of the HU enough for it not to recover.

The other question is more of a general one. The HF doesnt like having the power taken away from it when the car is cranking - It freezes completely. Is there any wire that switches on when the ignition does, but doesnt power down when cranking - for example the ECU B+ or ON wire from the ignition?

Any thoughts??

n/m about the On wire. I re-routed this and is now working perfectly.

But still need ideas on what could be causing the HU to freeze... Any spring to mind?

Sooo...the kenwood is Bluetooth enabled?

I know that with my hands free, when it's near my cell, you couldn't talk on the actual phone because the phones speaker and reciever automaticallly turn off.

Maybe it's a function of the unit to mute itself when it recieves a signal from your hands free?

or am I reading you wrong?

As for power, I think there is continuous line that goes into the stereo? ...but I think that cuts off momentarily too when you crank.

The Kenwood is not Bluetooth enabled. I installed a standalone unit to do it for me. The HU does have a mute wire - but i dont need it, as the HF just cuts off the incoming signal from the HU and Outputs the Signal from the phone. But since i have installed this, the HU freezes - even when there is no output from the HF.

The Constant power i ended up getting from the ignition - I just tapped into the wire that feeds the ECU and Coil as this doesnt power down when cranking...

Could it possibly be that the HF is Grounded thru the HU? Or could it just be that the HU doesnt like the fact that it loses the speaker signal? But even then - the HU shouldn't know any better as the Speaker wires are purely output and shouldn't have any sensors for input, should it?
