Pioneer Flashing power light

I have a Pioneer GM-X554 and the power light is flashing instead of being solid. I read that it means its in "protection" what is protecton and how do i fix this problem?

Protection is so the unit doesn't operate to prevent further damage that would occur it were to continue operating. Could be caused by bad wiring, overheating, etc.

All the wiring is fine along with the fuses and grounding (tested with voltmeter), so what else could it be?

well apart from overheating, as far as i know it could be a fault in the HU.
