Ok so I have two DVC Bazooka tubes 500 watts RMS each...
The two tubes really take up a lot of trunk space, but they also make it a bitch to get to my tire well if i have to get a spare out of there...
If I were to take the subs out of the tubes and maybe mount them in a custom fiberglass enclosure at the side of the trunk would that still sound as good as the tubes?

No the bazooka tubes are built for those enclosures. You can build you own box but it will have bass but it wont be able to produce the same quality and umph as it is now
Best bet would be to sell them and get a single good quality sub instead of 2 lesser. Quality over quantity!
Cool. I just need to decide if I'm going with one JL or two Audiobahn.

As for doing the fiberglass side trunk well enclosure. Does it have to have certain properties in order for the sub to function properly or is it a better idea to go with a box?

IMO that is one of the best sounding subs on the market (I have one in my car right now) As long as the fiberglass is thick enough not to flex and the airspace is the same you will not hear a difference (although the position of the subs in the trunk can cause a difference in sound and/or SPL).

So then I will need to calculate how much air space to use and "aim" the sub correctly for the best sound then... correct?

around 150-200 per sub. I was thinking about doing 2 10's again.

Yea someone else recommended that ID sub. I'm going to get it. I just need to figure out how this is going into the side of my trunk and how big this side panel has to be. Again, my first time doing it. lol. I'm trying to minimize my mistakes as much as possible... But i've been reading through lots of tutorials and scraps from the FAQ's and sticks so I'm getting a pretty good idea of the direction im taking...
Again, Its definetly a go on the ID 12 inch sub!

I have one and the box size is best between 1.25cuft - 1.5cuft. It will work with one but wont have as much low end to it.
Mine is in a 1.41cuft box.
It is an extremely good sub but you will need a powerful amp to get it performing to the best of its potential. I will be running it off a TruTech Hammer. Old amp was a Alpine 1000w rms monoblock.
