I had a JL 300/4 under my seat for quite a while, no problems. Don't block any ventilation ducts though.

so there are no dangers to drill straight down under the seat?

Shouldn't be. You'll have to drill through carpet and metal though

Be sure to look under the car first to make sure you don't drill into any brake lines, fuel lines, exhaust system etc . If I can find the picture I'll post what happens when you don't check for a fuel tank before drilling .

When I first began installing systems I installed the amps under the seats, but now I rather it in the back. I rather it there because it has more access to air and I had problems w/ ppl's foot touching the amps and I didn't liek that especially if it's raining and their shoes are all wet. But I guess if it's a small amp it can be tucked all the way under the seat.

thanks - i'll be sure to take a look.

are there any logical/common places to attach the ground wire so that a new hole wouldn't need to be drilled for that?

I usually use a seat mounting bolt in that situation and sand the contact surfaces down to bare metal.
