Gen5 JBL single disc --> JBL 6 disc

Just making sure I can yank out my single disc and install a 6 disc in my Gen 5. Both are JBL units and both are from 02 SE's. Besides the 6 disc, I want to upgrade because the single disc is a Delphi (AC Delco) unit and the radio reception sucks. My buddy has a 6 disc and its made by Matsushita (Panansonic) and has much better reception. Never did like AC Delco junk in GM cars!

Does your current system have an amp? The OEM JBL 6-disk changer has no internal power - they are powered by an external OEM amp located under the glove box.

Just following up on this thread. The 6-disc JBL is a direct bolt-in for a single disc JBL unit. Not only is it more convenient, the sound quality is much better with the Panasonic made 6-disc. The single disc is made by Delco (junk). The Panasonic also has some nice features like scrolling messages and RDS.

So the 6-disk JBL is made by Panasonic? Wonder why they put JBL on the front...cuz it's a package deal?

The JBL head units are made by various manufacturers. The amp and speakers are designed by JBL, hence JBL sound sytem.
