Question 2006 Camry SE bass tube installation problems...HELP!!!!!

Does anyone have any experience installing a bass tube in a 2006 Camry SE w/ 8 speaker JBL factory system? If so, please reply with what you believe the best installation options are for a do-it-yourselfer like me. Other forums have been useless with suggestions.

I am trying to install a brand new Bazooka BTA8100 amplified bass tube. I need to know which wires to tap into on the rear speakers as there are four wires going into each speaker, two black in the negatives, and a red and green in the postives. Also, can I tap into a power wire in the factory harness or do I need to go directly to the battery?

I don't wanna mess up the factory system and I need help with this install. Thanks in advance!

There are four wires going into four different terminals on each speaker or are there four wires going into two terminals?

For power, you'll need to run a wire from the battery to the trunk for power. Ground the tube to the chasis somewhere. You can get a device to use a speaker signal to trigger the remote turn on.

There are two wires going into each terminal. Black/Black into one negative terminal, and Green/Red going into the positive terminal. What device should I get to turn on tube via remote? Can't the power wire go into an ignition on source to address the issue of turning it on/off?

If there are two wires going into each terminal, just solder the input for the sub to those terminals. Or tap into either wire. The terminals connect both wires together so it won't matter which black wire you tap for negative or the green or red for positive.

You could tap the wire from the cig lighter/power outlet for the remote connection also now that you mention it.

Ok.....just a few more questions. The remote amp turn on can go to the cig outlet or other ignition activated power source? Does the power wire need to go directly to the battery? If so, what gauge wire should I use to make that connection?

Also, in my examination of the factory system, I noticed there is a factory amp that is behind the glove box. Does having that amp affect any other installation issues w/ the tube?

Thanks!

Yes, you can splice the remote into anything that is turned on when the key is turned to ACC position. Just make sure that it's switched off when the key is switched to off so that it doesn't drain the battery.

The factory amp won't affect anything.

It will be best to wire the power directly to the battery. I would use nothing smaller than 8 gauge wire. Be sure you put a fuse on the power wire near the battery!
