my proposed setup...help?

OK. i went to the local audio bloke today, and told him i wanted to set up my 2005 Ford BA Falcon (no rants about it being ford!)sedan with a decent audio setup.
Im going to go with the standard headunit as it is an intergrated item.
front: Focal K2 Power KP (splits) 2 way 4 ohms 80 watt rms. ~ $380
Rear: as above ~ $380
Boot : 2x 12 inch rockwood fasgate P2 wired to a 350 watt rms Alpine monoblock ~1200
both front and rear speakers will be powered by 4x75 watt alpine 4 channel amp ~400

Capacitator? needed? will it stop my lights dimming

entire car will be covered in dynamat. ~300

installation ~ $ 230

if this dosent work, an upgrade to aftermarket headunit will be used.

what does everyone think?

total cost ~ $3000 AUD

You won't need a cap, besides a cap is a waste of money, unless you already have one lying around, maybe look into a Optima battery but that isn't even needed too with your setup. I ran a JL Audio 300/4 and a RF Power 500.1 and didn't need a cap however I did have a Optima red top but the light never dimmed...as for my Tacoma I'm running a JL Audio 1000/1 and a 300/4, have the cap and battery and it dims...might gets a larger amp alternator.

Nice setup

Ok my 2 cents,
i run 3 amps of a head unit 2x 800w 1x500
so 2100 watts max and i get minimum dimming and that's at ground trembling lows,
your setup shouldnt cause any major dimming if it dims at all. So sirs correct no cap needed at all, if u do have dimming try a better battery.
Noofa ever thought about seeing how it sounded without the dynamat? Or are u a definite perfectionist when it comes to your system? Could save a cool 300 dollars

in order to hook the HU to the proposed system i think a lo-hi rca converter may be used coupled with a possible factory amp, not sure u didnt disclose that, will chew away at your sound quality from that setup.
there is a head unit connection that gives u rca,s straght from the source, i'd find out how they are gonna go about hooking the HU to the proposed system first.

An aftermarket HU isnt necessary, everything is possible to do with the factory HU, but sound quality will definitely be that much better with aftermarket.

Cam2xRunner did a post about rear speakers and how they can be a drawback to your system...I'll go look for it. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t111716.html It's long, but worth it. That guy is/was (where'd he go?) like a deity when it came to car audio. So, you could shave off $380 just there unless you're dead-set on getting rear speakers. As for installation, try doing it yourself. It's a little bit more work, but you'll be so much more proud of your system, plus you'll save $230. So, you could save $610 right there. Spend that on an iPod or some other cool toy for your car.

So there's my opinion, unless your a millionare and don't care about money...in that case, this post doesn't apply.

Jeez

Dimming with a 350 watt amp, and fresh battery? Problems!!! What gauge is your power to the amp from battery? U may have to also have to check and possibly replace the connector to the posts of the batteries, if there's corrosion there get it cleaned, can kill power. Also check the negative grounds to the amp. Sorry but something is wrong in your current setup if u experience dimming at that wattage. From my experience that is. Could be wrong
