well as the thread name says call me crazy cuz i am. it's ridiculous...my ideas that is. i just want to know wat u guys think of this. My idea for a system is: 3 12w7's each one on a jl either 500/1 amp or something like that. 3 way components in the front 3 way componets on the rear pushing w/e it is that'll be good for it. or i might just go active, i have a set of kicker ssmb8's i might put in the door and use a 4" on the kick panel for midrange and tweeter mounted somewhere angled at the person. in the rear obviously all 6 speakers on the deck. double layer of dynamat in the trunk, custom enclosure. I wanna get a stinger alternator and stinger battery to go with it and do the big 3 upgrade. i also wanna put the pioneer avic-z1 and have my ps2 in the glove and most likely tv's on the headrests. I like to go all out with bass...even if its double dynamatted and the trunk sounds like its gonna fall off it's fine with me, i live in miami where it's all about who has the most bump in the trunk. but i like my mids and highs too so i was thinking of putting a switch for 2 amps to turn them off wen im watching a movie so there's not too much bass. oh yea and prob. a 20farad cap if possible. so wat do u guys think?

Seriously though, OK, bump in the trunk is good, and mids and highs to match is all fine and well too, but two sets of three ways? Everything Amped from seperate amps? a Z1? Monitors? Ok, the last two, fine, but I don't think you'd need two sets of three ways to "keep up" with the subs. Get one set of pretty decent three ways, a little tuning, and perhaps multiple setting for that tuning to allow for oh say, music AND movies. I think thats way too much over kill to get what you want. You're talking at least like 4-5 grand in equipment alone (probably more) and that doesn't count any installation needs. so tack on like another grand at least.

yea cuz i have a 4door and yea i want the ppl in the back to hear the mids and highs good too so yea. i love car audio/video to the max! I calculated everything and yea its about 5gs or more.and i wanna do it all myself even if it takes me like a year to finish...i wanna accomplish something crazy lol. i know the back of my car is going to sag like crazy no doubt. i used to have 2 s10L5D4's in separate ported enclosure and they weighed like crazy so my car was sagging a lot...but those 10's were impressive i might say. people heard me coming from like 3 blocks away. as far as wiring...im not sure how im gonna do it. I wanna run atleast 0gauge to the all the current flowing that i can and from the distribution block should i run 4gauge just to be safe? and also as far as fuses...i might go with a breaker for each amp.

X2...you kids and your crazy amounts of loot. I wish I had half that money to throw around on my system. Christ, I'm trying to penny pinch for an Arc Flatline and MBQ RAA2400....
Oh yeah, and Yota...Thats still crazy. I get compliments on just my front stage when I have people in the back (well, until I took it out...the front stage that is).
I suppose if you're doing the DVD thing, then 5.1 (or 5.3 or wtf ever it is) isn't horrible, I just wouldn't want to do it. If thats your thing, go for it...we just better see some damn DIYs and pics!

Yeah I know, you can get a nice DVD player now for $1200-$1700. Back in 02 is when the stand alone DVD player started coming out and for my Alpine it was $2399. Basically the only one I see on the market for that price is made by Eclipse and it comes with gps nav, satellite ready and so on. Mine has the option to add those.
imo i think you sould go with a 5.1 amp and mold them into the car so it is true sorruond sound then have a switch so when you want just music you can have a 1500 watt amp to powere the 3 w7 you want. then you shold have 2 500/2 so you can have 125 watts per channel to 8 speekers and hae that all on a swtich so you can change from music to movies. and yes you are crazzy
Personally i'd take IDMaxes over w7s =) But each person to their own. =)
I've seen/heard/sat in a car with a system as big and as extensive as that and it sounds good. Just make sure you tighten up every bolt before you install everything coz you dont want to find a rattle somewhere in the install after everything is in.
And the system i was talking about above is this one.
Alpine IVA-D310
Alpine Hdd (cant remember model number)
1 x TruTechnology T4.100
2 x TruTechnology Hammer H1
1 x Dynaudio Esotar component splits
2 x Dynaudio MW160 extra midbasses up front
4 x IDMax 10
All this in a Tacoma Extra cab (hilux here in aust) =) And it is aural heaven
So your system has the potential to get great results if installed properly
this is all future plans tho...i was thinking about just sticking to 2 w7's..it's a camry the trunk isn't too big plus i've heard good things about w7's, i think the price says enough. is there baffles sold for mids so i can put on the rear deck?
