DEH-P860MP face doesn't open

I was trying to change the disc in my player yesterday afternoon but for what ever reason, the face would not slide down no matter what I tried. There was absolutely no way for me to open the face. When I pressed the button, the unit would beep and do nothing. Holding the button down had similar results. I turned the unit off and set auto flap open to true (the flap opens automatically when the car is shut off so that you can remove the face). The flap would absolutely not open. Even reseting the unit did nothing. I shut the car off for 10 min and tried it again and still the same.

So I was stuck listening to Utada and Ayumi during the afternoon....

This morning I tried to open it and it opened right away.

I think this might be temperature related because it was 30 deg cooler in the morning 85F vice 115F. Other than the face problem, the unit functioned fine. The sun sits in the car all day, so the temperature inside the car was probably even hotter. The water in my water bottle was hot enough that it was not drinkable - think hot coffee or something you'd use cook cup noodles.

sorry to say thats a common problem with that pioneer unit. i install stereos for a living(best buy) and i've seen quite a few of those with that problem. someting just fails internally. we send them to service once we pull them from a customer's car and we never see them again.

The face works fine now though.

I'm thinking something may have over heated. The temperature inside the car can easily exceed 160 F. I once left a bottle of water in my car at 8 or 9 in the morning. By 4pm, the water was undrinkable because it was hot like I jjust heated the water in the coffee maker.
