are you asking about running an amp for your mids and highs along with an amp for your subs? if its for your mids and highs, i.e. a 4 channel, that the answer would be you dont have to. running an amp for the in car speakers really does clean up the sound and push the speaker. how many ohms are your in car speakers? i would guess 4. it all depends on what kind of sound and what kind of volume you want to achieve.
I have allways ran an amp. no subs this time just some 4ohm seperates. im not into bass just a clean sound and a easy install. i think ill try no amp this time to save money, i can allways add one...
an amp would really clean up the sound and push the speakers. i personally dont care for subs. not my music choice. but i can tell you that installing a good 4 channel will drastically improve the sound from the speakers.
