So i think this time around im gona make speaker boxs for my 2 rear 6x9 speakers....i looked on the net and only found sub boxs . Has anyone ever made boxs for their rear speakers? If so please post pictures or links i'd greatly appreciate it
Well, there's a copule reasons to go another direction than building 6x9 boxes.
1) most people don't secure them to anything, so they just sit in the back dash, and in the case of a wreck or abrupt stop, they then become projectiles aiming for the back of your head, not a good idea.
2) They block part of your view out of your back window.
3) they take up unneccissary space.
Personally (I used to be a non-believer), and its not just my opinion, I feel that "rear fill" detracts from your front stage. After running just my front stage for a little bit, I cannot stand rear fill any more.
If you still think you want the 6x9's back there, perhaps look into doing some fiberglassing on your rear deck. I think it could turn out really well, be secured properly, and allow for a little "flava" to your car as well as allow for a custom axis setup to allow for the best SQ possible. I say this becuase I assume your rear deck doesn't have anywhere to put 6x9's in it (according to your pic).

Yeah, ghetto... instead pop a couple of decent 6.5" speakers in the front doors, hook them up to your deck or power them with a 4 channel amplifier. With the remaining two channels of the amp you could power a subwoofer.
Ya i already have 6.5" in the front.....but without the 6x9's hooked up my subs over power the sound. And i jsut dont have it in me to turn down the bass And yes i do plan on securign them to teh back shelf and possibly even to teh metal sub frame underneath.
Gotcha....ur a bass freak. Before I go into a speech about adjusting your system correctly, how far do you turn up the volume on your head unit on average? 1/4, 3/4???
BTW, I work for www.pro-linear.com, a speaker company, so I know a LOT about sound systems.

I assume you have the 6.5s amped, right? Perhaps readjust the gains to "properly" tune your front stage so you can gain optimum output before clipping. You may have already done that, though. Those 6x9's are gonna pull your stage back, and while adding an overall sound, detract from SQ. But I've already said that.
What kinda sub setup do you have going?

2 12" audiobahns and a 1200 watt vibrant amp. The 2 speakers in teh front can go up just as much to make due without the 6x9's but it just seems like a waste to have these awesome speakers and not using them thats all

Sell 'em and upgrade the subs and amp. What kinda comps you got upfront? On what amp?
