Gen5 front stage - tweeter placement

the gen 5.5 Cam has dash "tweeter" locations. for better sound, everyone suggests upgrading to components, so i'll go that route.

Q. would the dash be a bad place to put new tweeters?

Q. what setup would have the best "imaging"?

1) midbass in the door & tweeter in the dash

2) midbass in the door & tweeter near the side pillar

3) midbass & tweeter in the door

opinions please, thnx!

Ummm...Tweets in the kick panels? why would you put em that low? weird.

I'd go with mids in the door and tweets near the side pillars or in the door beneath the window as close to the windshield as you can.

like mike suggested, mids in the doors and tweeters on the pillar or even on the upper door panel.
you could put them back in the stock location up under the windshield, but it's not as good of a location as the pillar or door. the windshield will help bounce the sound to you, but it's just one more obsticle it has to fight to get to you....kinda like a tweeter low in the door location.

I recently installed some Infinity 5010CS components in the front of my Corolla. I cut holes in the top of the door panel as close to the front of the door as posible. Other than the fact that I didnt have the proper equipment to cut the holes (the top of the door panel was metal), the installation was quite easy, they look great and sound incredible, especially since I can aim them anywhere.

Check out CDT, ED or MB Quart components.

I'd go with the tweeter in your pillar if at all possible... If you can build some kickpods and put your mids in those.

I would also suggest looking around other forums and car audio websites to see where other people are placing their speakers, mainly those who are into SQ (sound quality) or you can just just experiment and see what your ears like.

I'd put'em by the windshield for wave relay (makes it feel like the sound is bouncing around)
