newbie question

OK I had my sony head unit installed by a shop.. ever since then, the sony head unit crapped out on me .. and I intend to do the work myself.

One question. Since I assume that the shop used a wiring harness to install the head unit to the car, would I need to get a new wiring harness? (since my new deck is a panasonic HU)

Thanks.

well i'll be the first to say that your first mistake was buying a sony product...haha. no big deal, you learned your lesson.

you will be able to retain the wiring harness adapter that adapts an aftermarket h/u to the factory wiring. this is one specific cable that you would use regardless of the brand. your new h/u will have its own wiring harness that you will need to put in place of the sony harness. so, cut off the sony harness (the end that attaches to the sony h/u) and leave the other harness. connect the panasonic harness where the sony was.
