Popping noise when turning on Head unit.

Whenever i turn on my cd player right when i get in the car, about after 5 seconds, i hear a pop noise..not a high pitched noise..like poo-pfh. Everything sounds ok after that i just want to figure out whats causing that it never did that before. My amp and everything is running fine im not overpowering it or anything. Any ideas?

sounds like something might not be connected well enough, and is maybe causing the speakers to get an electrical jolt when you turn it on. Maybe a ground connection possibly? Double check your wiring

I forgot to add it only does it when a cd is playing as soon as it loads up, like if i turned the cd player off while it was playing...only does it like that.

Most turn on pops are due to the amplifers seeing the voltage prior to powering up. The sudden surge of votage causes the amp to send out a poping sound. To eliminate this amps and some HU's will put a delay onto them. This means the amp can power up prior to seeing the HU's voltage. Since you didn't have this sound previously you amps delay circuit (a simple relay) or your cd's delay circuit (programing) may be defective. Did you change our your amplifier recently? If so, your new amp may not have a turn on delay. If it is the same amp, and since you state that it is only on the cd portion I would guess the HU has become defective. If it is out of warranty, then sounddomain and crutchfield both sell simple relays to plug onto your amp turn on signal. It will delay the amp from turning on long enough to avoid the popping.

If you keep the HU at high levels when switching it might shorten the speakers life span. At the least, you can press mute as you change.
