Satilite Radio Wiring

Is it safe to wire the power supply for it to my cigarette lighter power supply? And does the antenna need to go outsid of my car or can I put it anywhere?

the best reception will come from the antenna mounted in the highest, unobstructed spot on the car....usually the roof. however, you can still get great reception with the antenna mounted on your trunk and some places inside like the deepest part of the dash. you are more likely to experience reception issues with it mounted on the dash or rear deck because you are adding one more obsticle for the signal to hit. i had my antenna mounted on the hood hinge of my wrangler and never had a problem with reception.
if you are worried about having to run the wire to the roof, just run it back to the trunk area and mount it on the trunk lid.

as for the wiring, it would be best to run it straight to the battery.

Be sure to check and see what the voltage amount is from the supply to the satellite unit. My SkiFi 2 unit operates on 6 volts from the supply to the unit. The supply unit converts 12v to 6v. Just keep this in mind when you go to connect up the power supply. I bought a female plug (looks like a cigerette lighter plug with two wires) and wired it into the lighter connections, then hide the plug underneath the console, with the radio power supply plugged in. Good Luck!

IT works soo far

I probly should have bought the female plug and wired it that way. It would have been easier. As of right now it works fine, although I have lost the use of my cigarette lighter (I never used it anyway).
Thanks
