Wiring a Quad voice coil sub.

Well i seem to be confused here, i know you can run a quad voice coil sub, with each coil being 2ohm(so 2+2+2+2) at either .5, 2, or 8 ohms. Now ive asked else where and someone gave me a diagram for hooking it up at .8 ohms, and ive read on hifonics page..on their goliath QVC sub(that is also quad 2 ohm coils) it will operate at .5, 1, 1.5, 2, 4 and 8.

Unless hifonics is assuming your hookin up 2 of their subs to get those loads. I need as close to a 1ohm configuration i can get(since my amp is 1ohm stable). What are the wiring methods i can take to get this, or closest to this.

Maybe this will help. I have never dealt with QVC subs, or even heard of them before now.

Hmmmm...Yea those are the same diagrams as for either par/par or series/series i believe for the single sub wiring(would be .5 for mine or 8..i need to figure out the other ways)...and plus those subs are 1.5ohm coils...different from what i need.

You are making it more complicated than it realy is. Seperate voice coils are simply seen as extra drivers or subs by the amplifier. Wiring up a quad 4 ohm sub would be the same as 2 dual 4 ohm or 4 single 4 ohm subs. You will wire up the negatives of all four coils togeather and run them to the negative of the amp. Wire up all positives of the coils and take them to the positive of the amp. This places all the coils in parallel. Here is a very good link to JL's tutorial. It does a great job of breaking down the wiring and showing how to do it. You want to look at wiring 2 dual 4 ohm subs in parallel/parallel. You will see that four 4 ohm coils will yield a 1 ohm load. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161
