speakers replacement w/o OEM tweeters setup

I'm looking for a set of speakers that will replace a vehicle's OEM speaker system. However the OEM system doesn't have any tweeters.

Notice that here i'm looking for speakers that isn't 3-pc component setup. If its 3-pc components then I already know what to get. But this is my first time looking at regular speakers. I'm kinda clueless at where to start looking. And these speakers will not be amped. It will be powered from HU. I believe the speaker size is 6.5".

Thanks

Find a pair of coaxes you like, that is assuming this isn't going to be a large project, just upgraded sound.

Didn't really understand where you were going with that but...

yea coxials. Don't bother with anything expensive because you basically have to amp them to get any good results.

Unamped - I like the Polk Audio Coaxes. Had a set of 6.5's in my old car, and currently just took out a set (same model, just newer i think) of my current car. I still even have the 6x9's in my rear deck (haven't taken 'em out yet).

Did you mean the Alpine SPS-170A?

I think many people enjoy the Type R's over the Type S's.

Go take a listen to 'em somewhere if you can (I'm almost positive Best Buy and Circuit City would have them on their boards).

Ultimate Electronics by you? Any car audio places? Get out and get a listen. Who knows, you might find something you like a lot better. If nothing else, cruise E-bay and pick up a set of the R's for cheap and give 'em a shot.

That type R link is to the speakers (the correct ones) you're talking about.

I've probably heard them on some sound boards, but I don't think I've ever heard them installed. Tons of people are using them (comps mostly) and love them. Actually, outside of my one Alpine HU, I don't think I've ever had any other Alpine gear now that I think about it. Why, do you have some other questions? If so, just ask away, I'm sure if I can't help, someone else can.

nono, you've been great help. but so far at this point, the best option is to go out and listen to the speakers and see what they might sound like. once installed is a different sounding speaker comparing to the demo

That is true, they don't sound the same in the room as they do in a car. I can't remember where, but you could search the net for it (probably ECA might be where I read it at, or even here, who knows), but there was an article/write up on how to listen to speakers in a sound room so that they mimic closer-than-usual, what they will sound like in a vehicle.
