Jvc Kd-dv6200?

Hey I've been looking around for a new headunit. I originally had a Pioneer headunit from the days where mp3 technology was new. Unfortunately it met it's end yesterday. For a replacement I'm looking for something that has decent quality, good navigation, and will play mp3s. FLAC would be sweet, but I think I'm dreaming there. What I'm looking at is the JVC KD-DV6200. It claims an audiophile-quality digital analog converter for high quality playback, but I figure I'd ask you audiophiles if you've heard anything about it. So far looks good. Also rumor it'll play Double Layer DVDs and any sort of microdrive you wanna pop in the USB. Would be sweet to break that open and run a card reader just below it. For my soundsystem I've got Boston Accoustic S-Series all the way around. S-65 two ways in the front, and S-95 3 ways in the back. Some cheap subs in the rear to be upgraded later. I'm willing to sacrifice some features for sound quality if anyone has any suggestions. Provided the quality on this unit is not ample for my speakers. I wouldn't say I'm insanely picky, but I can't stand poor quality sound anymore. Bose, and Klipsch computer speakers. Anything else sounds like crap :-(. I dunno how much of an audiophile that makes me. I just gotta have my crisp highs and undistorted lows, with a quality powerful midrange to bring it all home. Nice warm sound *Drool*. Well if anyone could inform me of how picky I am i'd appreciate. Would give me a better idea of what I'm looking for. Also any reccomendations for headunits, or info on this one would be much appreciated. Preferably the later in relation to quality, and easy of navigation.

Thanks,
Robert

Ummm...well, I hear mixed things about JVC, some people think they're a great bargain/quality brand, other people think they're garbage, just depends on the experience the user had. I'll tell you this, making "claims" and actually backing those claims up are two different things, especially in an unregulated industry.

You can read the reviews, I'm sure you have read some, but usually people don't know what they're talking about in the "public" reviews anyway. Search on some car audio forums for some reviews (if you can find 'em: www.elitecaraudio.com, www.sounddomain.com, www.carstereo.com, etc...) and see what some people who are "into" audio say, and not just your "I needed a new cd player and this one had a TV in it" consumer. Outside of that, I don't have a whole lot of experience with JVC, so I can't help you more.

Oh, and Bose... Don't like 'em. Over priced for what it is.

cool, thanks for the lins. I definitely know what you mean about the reviews "this replaced my stock headunit OMG it is amazing!", or "it has sweet colors". Not very informative :-\

lol yeah thats why it's on my guest machine. The Klipsch are such much nicer speakers, and wow do they have power. I got the bose because I had gift certificate. They don't get very loud, and they lack mids or solid bass. Crisp highs though. The sub seems to cover both the midrange and the bass :-\. Full blast you can barely hear around the house. The klipsch i'm afraid to put past half volume. They get very loud, and the sound quality is well balanced. Didn't take as much playing with the EQ as the bose. $100 cheaper for a much better system. and their car audio makes me sad.
