Gen5 Remote Start Help (Viper 160XV)

like the thread title says, i need help with installing a Viper 160XV remote start on a 2005 Camry LE.

according to the manual, i am supposed to:
1) cut the starter wire, then
2) connect said wire (going to the starter motor side) to the purple starter output wire, and
3) connect said wire (going to the key ignition side) to the green starter kill wire.

This i understand perfectly... however, the camry has TWO starter wires. one wire is thicker than the other... clearly the thicker one is the main starter wire. my question is, do i hook up the secondary starter wire in the exact same way as the main to the remote start wires?

also... what is the best location for the antenna? if you have pictures, that'd be great!

TIA

the best location for the antenna is going to be in the upper left corner of the windshield. inside of course. you'll only need to cut the thicker wire as its the primary. this should help a ton: this is the diagram for a remote start for the 05 camry from directsoft. this is the program i use at work when i install a remote start.

if you have a chipped key you will need another key and a universal transponder. you also will need a relay for this remote start.

thanks for the help!

so i won't need to touch the secondary starter wire at all? i tried installing the BOA 165B remote start... but didn't work for some reason... so i have the wiring information from that kit. i don't believe i have an immobilizer (valet key is a bare metal key) and i believe the remote start comes with a relay.

for the secondary starter wire, you will need to use the violet on the satellite harness, which is the 200mA starter output and connect a relay to the violet and then into the secondary starter wire. you need the relay because 200mA isnt enough to trip that starter wire.

thanks mazdaverx7! you've been a great help... much appreciated!!

EDIT: two last questions, then no more from me, lol. 1) what is the DKP and where is it? 2) do you recommend using the tachometer input or the voltage input as the engine check?

Thanks again!

you should be good at that point. if you have a chipped key, make sure you get the transponder and second key.
