Buying aftermarket HU

yes another HU question. basically im going to buy an aftermarket HU from another TN member on the forum and want to stay away from changing the speakers for a while. so basically i want to keep my stock speakers from blowing! should i turn the treble/bass all the way down to perserve the speakers or its inevitable that the speakers will blow Kenwood = 22 watts and stock 2001 camry speakers are 15watt.

am i better off leaving the stock unit there or what?

I run a pioneer p80mp, it's rms is 28 x 4, and it's 60x4 max.

I've had it on for the last six months on the stock speakers. I haven't had any problems with my speakers and they are 10 years old.

I keep hoping they do blow so I can have an excuse to get new ones, but they haven't. So you have plenty of time to shope for new speakers.

edit: I run the unit like normal--- ie to my tastes.

You'll be fine. I had a Kenwood unit that put out 22W RMS and 50W peak to the original speakers. It ran fine for over a year without having to tweak any settings, ie lower teh trebble and bass.
