4th Generation Crutchfiled Disclaimer

On the Crutchfield site, I put my car info in (2000 Camry) and when I pulled up a DVD head unit, there is this disclaimer:

Installation Details for your 2000 Camry
» Please Note: Because your vehicle is factory-equipped with a special sound system, Crutchfield recommends a free bypass adapter that we provide. Not using this adapter could make it necessary to replace the entire factory sound system, including the speakers.

Anybody know what this adapter is?

I am not sure as I bought my car used. It has the stock separates (tweeter/midrange) in the door. Would that be the JBL system? For a factory system, it does sound pretty good.

Your camry isn't an XLE is it? Or does it have a JBL logo on the face of the stereo?

If the answer is no to those questions you will not need to bypass any external amplifier(there is none in that case)

The Harness that they include should be the normal aftermarket wiring harness.

Even if you did have the external amplifier, you'd use this same harness and follow the directions posted here.

Checked last night on the drive home and there is no JBL label on my radio, just a Toyota label. My car is an LE. So I guess I do not have an external amplifier and can used the regular wiring harness. Many thanks!
