umm i dont think that the last one you suggested was right
but anyways im thinkig bout updating them but i should probably get a new battery first to start off because when i was tlkin to my dad he said its te original battery from when we got the car....its over 8 years old!
It doesn't really depend on the gauge of the wire! It depends on how much power you're using!
You can power a deck with a 4 guage wire but it will only use whata 12 guage waire uses for power!
Your battery to chassis ground should always be a very good one I would recommend a minimum 8 guage (Good 8 guage) whether you have a system or not.. Plus having to much ground isn't bad, so you can use a 4 guage on the ground if you want...

Agree on chassis ground should always bea good one, but what you need really depends on how much power you are using. Your first two sentences are contridicting each other. The guage of the wire depends on how much power you are trying to use. Think of your power needs as water through a hose. It leaves the positive battery terminal, and has to get all the way back to the negative battery terminal. If you have 0 guage from your positive battery terminal to your amps, then 0 guage from your amps to chassis ground, but then 8 or 12 guage (stock wires) from the chassis to the negative battery terminal, you have a big block there. Essentially, that short wire with much smaller guage turns into a fuse of sorts. Just use whatever guage you use for your positive wires, and you will be good to go.
