Question Matsushita radio 86120-02140 CR-LS7411Z connector

Hi all,

I am trying to upgrade the head-unit of my 1997 Corolla, in order to add connectivity for an external MP3 player.

The stock radio is a Matsushita model 86120-02140, ref. CR-LS7411Z. Upon removing it I found an unused round female connector on its back, elsewhere known as a 13 pin DIN connector. (This is in addition to the power input, speaker output and antenna-in connectors.) It looks like an old IBM AT-style keyboard connector (but far more pins), is about 1 cm in diameter, with the following pin layout:

/-u-\
oooo
oooo
oooo
\_o_/

The "u" is a hole for a notch; the "o"s are femable receptacles for electrical pins.

I'm just wondering whether this radio has any line-in connectivity (and some hidden functionality to activate it, instead of the AM/FM tuner). What is this connector for?

If not, please give me some suggestions for inexpensive replacement head-units. I just want something with line-in.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello Towwang ~~

i have the same 13 pin connector in the back of my Matsushita radio (it's for cd/cd changer), and i too would like to know how to find a cable that will mate with that and an mp3 player.

Unfortunately I had no luck. I tried to build an external connector for the radio, but accidentally short-circuited an IC and fried the thing.
Buying an inexpensive replacement receiver/head-unit was the final outcome. :P
