Isolater- Update on Curry's death by bass camry.

Ok well I recently started getting the parts I needed to finish up the system. As most of you know I ran into tranmission + battery problems.

Transmission is now fixed.

Problem with the battery was it didnt hold its charge. I ordered an optima red and yellow top and a 180 amp alternator to feed them. This should give my car everything it needs to feed 6 LCDS, 2 PC Power Supplies, a 1200watt amp and a 600 watt amp.

I need to keep the trunk battery seperate becuase the carpc does drain the battery (not overnight) but if i dont drive for like a week. So I need to isolate the batteries (obviously)

will that work?

DO NOT scare me like that again, Curry!!! When I got to this section, I half assed read the title of the thread, and all I got from it was, "Curry's death..." and my eyes started to water... Then I read, "by bass", and thought, "he got eaten by fish??" No, I'm not blonde, just busy, and obviously too much in a rush to read properly; maybe JayMax is rubbing off on me with the reading thing...

The isolator you listed will work. Also check with some places that sell RVs.

Ok so I started ordering parts like mad.

I have NOT ordered the batteries yet becuase i was told that a red and yellow will fight each other and cause damage, and it is best to use just two yellows... is this true?

The alternator im using, im a bit confused as to how the hook up works. How can I add another 0 guage wire onto that to do the big3? There really isnt a spot to put it on. Unless i'm missing something. (the new alternator looks exactly like the old one)

I'm also going to have to do an extension of the stock wires (I beleive there is a tutorial on this already so ill refer to that)

So hopefully by december ill have my electrical system up to speed.

If anyone has suggestions or sees any problems please let me know so I can address them. I'm hoping I havent mised anything.

lol @ nevanerviss =P

Thanks 88LE i'm going to check out that site before ordering the relay, looks like good stufff.

I read something like that somewhere. Basicly it said that you should use 2 of the same batteries.

Look for a big cable that connects to the alternator, its the positive cable. Theres a lug on the alternator that this cable connects to.

Thanks 88LE for the info. I went with 2 yellow tops and the 180 amp alt is on its way. I'm going to upgrade all the wiring to 0/4 gauge where needed.

Also thanks for the reply in the other thread. You are the man!

One last question. With deep cycles they dont get damaged when they are completely discharged right? I've read that this only happens with regular batteries.
