Is my pioneer dieing?

I have a pioneer 4700, that I've had for about 2 years now. Lately, I've noticed that I'm turning up the volume alot more to get the same sounds level out of it. When I first got it, I kept it around 20ish, and that was fine. Now, I find myself with it around 30-40 to get the same level. Also, it seems like after about an hour or so of playing, it makes any cd skip. I think this could be due to the fact that it sits right under the heater vents and is over heating? What could my problem be?

you're going deaf. 2 years of loud music, thatll do it. lol.

seriously though, if youre using the internal amplifier, and its overheating, its very possible that its not putting out the same power it used to. Time to upgrade.

I'm with Tommy due to the fact that the older Pioneer models still use heatsinks

that was my first guess, until I noticed that the only thing I listen to louder is my car's cd player...

I guess I'll have to save my penny's and get a new one. Fine by me, the fact that mine is Green has been bothering me since I but blue LED's in everything else.
