Whats causing this....

OKay.. here goes...
I have 2 12" subs, running off a kenwood 929 Amp (1000 watt)
I have a voltmeter, and when the bass hits... the voltmere will go from 14+ to ~12.5... and there is no more bass...
Its hard to explain,,, the bass line will start.. and then stop... and once the heavy bass line is done.. the voltmeter display moves up to 14 again.. and the subs produce bass once again...
I have a capacitor too...

Do you guys know whats causing this.. is there something wrong with my amp?
The reason I ask is becuase I just got a new amp... its a high current amp and its going to suck alot of power... so I wanted this to be fixed..
any help would be appreciated
thanks, in advcance

your power and ground wires are too small. Upgrade those.

DOes the amp flash any colors or anything indicating a power failure? if not, it jsut might be defective. See if the palce u got it from will swap it out for a test.

whats the setting on your amp??

if its at max i'd suggest you turn it down

but most likely you're not getting enough power to your amp

i had the same prob but just changed wiring to 2gauge braded wiring

Look to see if the sub is properly connected to the terminal inside the box, connection on the inside is inferior, comes loose every now and then.

you might have a poor power connection. Check your ground connection especially.

This might sound wierd, but after checking your ground and power connections as the guys suggested earlier...replace your in-line fuses.

Something similar happened to me before. I was was having irratic power similar to what you're experiencing. After checking all my connections and not being able to isolate the problem. I swapped the in-line fuses. Although the fuse was visually intact, when I switched it with another one everything worked fine. Still puzzled, I put the bad fuse back on and sure enough the amp started acting up again.
I can't explain what the reason was, but if fixed the problem.
