Anyone have recomendions on a 300+w amp for one 12" JL W3v2-4?

Ported box, dual 4 ohm voice coil, booklet says to run optimally at 300w RMS 2 Ohm but will handle more easily I've heard. Do you know of a good deal on a quality/dependable amp for this sub? Is the JBL CS300.1 junk or what? It's $115, is it overated at 300W?

(not mine, not affiliated with seller)

Class AB, stable to 2 ohms when bridged and if you want to upgrade to a bigger sub amp later this amp will work great for regular speakers.

What does it mean to bridge the amp?
I am only using one JL 12W3, is this too much power?
Will it kill my alternator?

Boston GT22
RMS Power (2 ohms) 175 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged RMS Power 500 watts x 1 chan. (2 Ohms)
Peak Power Output 1000 watts approx.

It means to turn the two channels into a single channel amp. You use the positive output of one side and the negative output on the other side.

It will not kill your alternator.

You'll probably just have to keep the gains down on the amp.

I am looking into the Kicker ZX300.1 300w x 2 ohm RMS.
It says wire it to a mono sub. The Jl 12W3v2-D4 is the dual voice coil.
Optimum is at 300 RMS for the sub, will it change that by wiring it differently?
Or should I look into a more powerful amp if you think this sub will handle it?

That kicker specs say:
RMS Power in Watts
@14.4V, 50 Hz, 2Ω Mono, ≤1% THD+N 300 x 1
Does that mean it's 300 rms at 14.4 volts? Don't car batteries run at 12.4 volts. It this an indication of an overating, I heard kicker was good about accurate specs? What's the deal?

Batteries run at 14.4... Lower when a system is on, or any electrical things are on for that matter.

But if thats it's RMS rating that means it will only produce it's highest power at the batteries highest voltage, which isn't good. But that also doesnt mean thats a bad thing if thats all the power you need.

However, you should try to find one that puts out good power at lower voltage ratings too if your looking for extra power.

Just as a reminder, you dont have to run the amp at full power, so its always good to have some head room power, not under power.

Also no... this will NOT kill your alternator. Too small
