the screws are going down so i dont think so... Do you plan to make a mdf bracket for the back speaker or cut a wider hole to fit the speaker?

If you already have subs, just skip the 6x9s. I took mine out completely.

That sucks man. My back seat broke too when we were installing my 6x9's. I believe you can still get it off without having the seat down its just a bit harder. I'm going to try because I'm getting rid of my 6x9's too. Actually I'm getting rid of all of it to restart.

Also, no, you won't be able to get to them even if you do move the subs.

could you somehow extract the plastic knob that would yank free the seat, and then get some hook or something to open up the seat?

uhm anyways if you can get one seat down you could still attempt to change the 6x9's.

I remember once I had a case of motor oil in the trunk and I had to make a panic stop. The case of oil knocked the seat down, but I don't know if it was latched in the first place. You could try getting in the trunk and giving it a kick...

being under the 6x9's wont help.

The screws are facing down from the top.

So you have to come from the top to get to them, unless you feel like jigsawing them out.. lol

Also... I have tried giving mine a kick, and it will not budge, mine is like stuck locked or some shit, I'm pretty damn pissed about it too. When good is a fold down seat if it can't even fold down?

My seat is broke too.

Does anyone know if a toyota dealer would fix it for a reasonable price or would they charge 1000 dollars to do it.

Guess the only way to find out is to ask. And if you do.. fill me in on it. I might have them do it too

I dont wanna have to tear apart my seat to fix the problem haha

Don't even bother with em. With a good front stage and subs you won't even notice them. Save the cash and invest it in your front stage. Any audiophile will tell you the same thing... at least thats what they told me =P
