Question Pioneer Head Unit Installation Question

What's up,

I got my Pioneer head unit couple days ago (DEH-P5500MP), and tried to install it today but I got a problem well not so much of a problem but ... anyway.. below the stock head unit there is this pocket thing with the flap that closes, I think you know what i'm talking about, so when i afixed the pioneer head unit the frame of the unit is in the way of that flap, so the pocket can't close... and I can't move the player up coz i won't be able to secure it, so what do i do? Maybe I should just take that little frame off the pioneer?

Thanks

The frame serves no purpose other than aesthetics. I think the frames are made for American cars for use with the mounting kits.

Re: Pioneer Head Unit Installation Question

Not sure about Pioneer, but with Kenwood you'll get two different types of frames. The smaller frame is the kind that fits flush in Toyotas and Nissans, the other frame, the larger one (which is what I think you have) will be used on other cars.

Maybe you can order it through Pioneer if it didn't come with your head unit?

I only got one frame and it didn't fit for me. And it's pretty thin, less than 1/2 cm.

I have a gen3 and I think he does too. I haven't seen a pocket like that in a gen4.

It's me again,
I already solved that "problem", I just took that big frame off and mount the player on the rack, and it fits perfectly. The head unit is awesome, I replaced the stock speakers with Blaupunkt 3-way speakers 70W - 210 peak, they're awesome, i don't even need a sub anymore, you can hear those babies pound blocks away.. Pioneer really does its job well!

P.S. and yeah I got gen3

You still need a sub. Although, I can vouch for 6x9s almost making up for it. My van had an Infinity sound system and those 6x9s were like baby subs. I'm sure you could probably get some 6.5s that had decent bass too. But when you get a sub, you'll notice a big difference with the bass and if you take the sub away, you'll feel like you're missing something.
