New Battery?

Hey guys,
I just bought myself a new jvc 2x150 watt rms amp for my sub (soon to be 2 subs), and i now have my old pioneer 300 watt amp just laying around. I was thinking of using it for all the in cabin speakers. Would this use too much power? would i need a new battery/alternator? I got a new alternator a couple of months ago, its 85 amps. So yea would this drain too much power having too amps running at the same time? And can you have more than one amp coming from one battery?

Secondly, as i mentioned before, i am going to invest in a second sub. I have a 12" kenwood.. dodgey sub.. El cheapo as you may know it as. But the new amp sounds better with low bass sort of stuff eg dance music. But i listen to a lot of metal/rock. So i was wondering, would it be better if i bought a 10" sub to cover all the bass. Because as far as i know, 10" subs are more responsive, and play things like bass guitar a lot clearer. So would a 12" and a 10" sub cover most of the bass i listen to?

any help would be awesome.

cheers,
matt

well im not sure about the amps but one of the things i learned on here is to never mix subs. its always better to have 2 10's or 2 12's not one of each.

really? why is that? because if you have an amp running all the internal speakers, they are different sized. Unless you just arent meant to amplify 2 different sized speakers full stop?

Size mixing isn't a problem, its resistance and power matching that you need to worry about. Think abount all of those demo cars that have a bajillion different sized speakers in them. Must be doable somehow.

If you're going to run two different ones like that though, you'll want seperate amps for them (unless for some reason they have the same specs). Give us a list of what products you've got to work with, models and whatnot, and we can give you a good idea of what you can accomplish with that, or perhaps, what you'll need to get what you want.

As far as the battery thing goes, you should be ok. Upgrade the Big 3 just to ensure minimal strain on the electrical system. You've just got the two amps in there? So thats what, 600 watts? Shouldn't be a big deal. I think I run about 400 watts on my 80 amp alternator and there isn't any strain what so ever (and thats on stock wiring too).

And you know what else, I wouldn't waste your money on two subs. Dump all your loot into one high quality one, use the remainder (if any) and save up for some decent amps. More isn't always better, just usually, haha.

I've got two 12's right now, split to only like 125 watts on each. Gets loud just fine, but you can barely tell the difference when I run only one of them. However, you up the juice on 'em, and you'll be able to tell whats up. To give you some idea of what I mean, for my next sub stage, I plan on going with one 12" (Arc Flatline) and feeding it about 1000 watts. It should have no problem blowing my current setup away.
