I don't mean to offend anyone, but why do people always come back to our forum AFTER and ask why their installs are fucked. I think we already have quite a few people here who actually work or knows somebody that works at audio shops that will do installs for you at a great price. I'm really suprised to see they have come back and ask those guys for help.
Make REAL use of this forum and ask for a reputable shop to go to BEFOREHAND.
And I don't think it's going to hurt if you go around and ask for price quote if you think that their prices are unreasonable. Or get suggestions on a DIY if you are cheap like me and really want to save some money AND learn something at the same time.
I totally agree with EKam, it's useless to go and do something, get bitten and then come and cry about it over here. If you went to a shop that no one has gone to before and they did not treat you well. Then you should post up here and warn everyone about it.
But if it is a place that has already been discussed by someone on this board, then it is your fault for not trying to research and find if anyone has had problems with that place (That goes for everything, Mechanics, tire shops, audio shops, even none auto related places, etc..)
This forum is very informative and could guide you to good places and good deals, so it wouldn't hurt to check here before you decide to go somewhere for work.

Totally agree with the above. Too many horror stories. I myself install my own mobile electronics because it's exciting, free, a sense of accomplishment. I don't trust shops @ all. Come here, ask ?s, we're here to help. It's also good to buy the car stereo mags. Lots of good info there.

I would not recommend anyone install a sound system themselves unless they either have a good background in electricity, or they learn about the rules of installation.
Personally, I think you should definitely get help or assistance on it, if you can't do that you should read up on it or ask a friend who's had experiences with it.
I've seen way too many scary scenes with bad use of fuses, wrong wires, bad taping, improper insulation, running the wires in the wrong place and most importantly, BAD GROUNDS.. This is not a simple task, and you could burn down your car if you forget something or make a mistake.
I have seen cars burn down simply because the power fuse was not in the proper place.
