Basically to sum it up, here are the Pros and Cons. Oh yeah, both are about $250.
Alpine - Better known quality, 60w x 4 peak built in amp
Pioneer - Looks cooler, it's used though and has no remote, only 50w x 4 peak
I can't decide. One is better but the other looks cooler. ARG!@

redford u know the deal im getting an alpine, ur boy with the civic has an alpine, my boy w/ the 626 has an alpine....do yourself a favor and get the damn alpine
The alpine was actually $280 + $20 S&H. I didn't get the pioneer 'cause someone bought it before I did. The Clarion is $260 with S&H. ok, so maybe I only saved $40 but I like the way the Clarion deck looks.

you won't be disappointed with that Clarion deck. it's very similar to the one i have but with more features. the built in EQ/Crossover, Ce-Net networking capabilities, and quality build are my favorite features.
This is practically the second highest head unit in the Clarion line under the 935 which is the ultimate deck with all the features that you need.. I am considering this deck and trying to decide between it and a Kenwood deck. They both have the same features, the only difference is the display.

But the 935 doesn't play MP3s or WMAs and is only all blue (which I wouldn't mind). And MP3s is a big selling point to me. I feel happy hearing good feedback about this deck.
