Gen6 poor reception with aftermarket radio

i have just successfully installed my aftermarket kenwood dvd into my 2007 camry xle with the premium system. Everything is working all speakers, sirius, dvd, ipod, power, but i get horrible reception. I think it has something to do with the fact that it has 2 seperate antenna plugs and i only plugged in the one that fit into my radio. There is a smaller plug about the size of a GM antenna plug that has the orange power wire connected into it. Is there anything that can be done to improve the reception. I have the HD radio but make no sense in having radio at all if i can't even get a channel let a long the "channels between the channels." I was thinking about making some sort of Y-plug to connect the 2 together, but don't know what my occur in doing so.

Any Advice?

They would use both sides of the antenna to pull in the best signal. Diversity is just for that purpose 2 plane for reception.

Would this same adapter work for a 2005 4Runner?

I was told that if your antenna is in the back glass, window tint can mess with the reception also.
