I'm having distortion problems

Hello first I want to say this forum is full of good info and has helped me with all of my car audio purchases. I need some help figuring out why I am getting a light distortion (a light crackling sound) throughout all of my door speakers. Its not constant throughout any song, it just kinda comes and goes. Its not loud or extremely noticable, but its there. Nobody I've talked to has any idea what this could be, so I'm asking here.

It all started when I bought a Pioneer deh4800 from Circuit City a few weeks ago and had them install it. I had 2-6.5 pioneers in the front and 2-5 1/4 pioneers in the rear. I thought maybe the distortion was just bad speakers, so I bought Infinity Ref 6.5 components for the front, and had them just running off the HU and it was still there. Then I hooked the Infinitys to a Diamond D3 4channel amp, even ran new speaker wire, and the distortion was still there. But wow it really gave life to those speakers! I took the deck back to circuit city and they replaced it with a new one. Still have distortion. They told me theres nothing else they can do. I'm lost here and any advice how to fix this would be helpful.
Thanks.

Sounds like it could be a loose connection at the head unit area. I had a similar problem where the guy who installed my unit didnt secure the wires. I would get crackling and the speakers would cut out.

I decided to go in and re-do all the connections myself. I only had the guy do it becuase it was free.

Hey thanks for the reply. I took back the Pioneer and had another store install a JVC. For some reason it seemed to have made a huge difference. Although I still hear it sometimes, but only on certain songs. When you redid all your wiring did you just re-do the wiring harness? Or was there other wiring beyond that you replaced? Was there anything you saw or noticed that was giving you the crackling?

I took the infinitys out and hooked them to my Home theater receiver inside and I can hear the crackling through the tweets on the components, even at low volume. Could it be possible the tweeters are damaged even though this only happens during some songs and not all songs?

Guess it's always a possiblity that its the tweet.

But then I dont know how you could wind up with two bad set of speakers, both from different companies..?

How can I determin if these tweeters are bad? Is there any way to do any testing? Espessially since it only crackles at certain parts of certain songs.
