Hey guys. so this setup has been in the working for a good amount of the time, right now im deciding between Alpine SPR-17LP Coaxial http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2830, and Alpine SPR-17LS Components http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2828. The price difference is $50, that may not seem like a lot but I have a very tight budget. The thing is I've always read that components sound much better than coaxials, but when I went to Bestbuy that carried both they didnt sound very different. I dont know if it was the setup or something else but I couldn't tell a big difference between the two.
Also does anyone know what the RMS for upgraded gen 4 camry speakers. I was thinking of running http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12977. It is at a great price and gives out somewhere around 150rms to each channel. I was thinking of running both right front and rear to one channel and both lefts to the other. But I dont want to risk giving too much power to the speakers.
The original speakers in Gen 4 Camry probably won't take much more than 20-30W RMS. You could hook that amp to them but I won't recommend it, nor do I suggest you hook up more than one speaker to each channel because that amp is only 4 ohm stable.
Ok I've been thinking about it some more, Ill keep the rears hooked up to the deck unless I decide to remove them completely.
For the front Im going to go look at BB again tom and try to see if the LS are worth the 50 more. I would also have to worry about where to mount the tweeter which would be difficult.
I'm going to be looking for a new amp and I cant remember but is it more power doesn't hurt but underpowering is bad? So for like a 50 watt rms speaker is like 75ish RMS fine?
your really looking at an rms of 10-20 sadly. and they are weird ohms.
gladly i can tell you because i did the same thing, I ended up with the components and ran them off HU(kenwood) power for awhile. I had already replaced the stock deck. It wasnt that great, a touch of an upgade, but when i threw power to them I loved em! Now I just run the mids and some other tweeters and all active

The thing is those tweeters look extremely tiny and wouldnt match up to well in the stock locations unless I came up with some kinda of custom case. Ill see what I can do though

The Tweeters are a pretty standard size, they fit pretty well in the sail panels. Thers not much of mounting there, I remember mine were just in there with some gaff tape, my new ones are in with a cup mount.

I managed to put the tweeter from a set of Polk db6750 components where the stock tweeters are. Pretty sure your Alpine tweeters will fit also.
1) Going from http://www.mmxpress.com/technical/wiregauge.htm the mtx 282 amp, 70rms x 2 = 140W RMS x 2= 280/13 = 21.5 and for prob like 4-5m = 6 guage wire. Does that look right to you guys?
2) Also trying to use that 70W RMS x 2 = 140W/13= 10.7 it says thats like 10 guage, does that seem right to you guys? Amp install sticky says like 16 guage...
You're a bit confused here. That web site you linked to is describing how to choose the power and ground wires. Get an 8 gauge amp kit and you should be set.
For speaker wire, you should be fine with 16 gauge wire.
ideally look for a 4ga or a 0ga amp kit if your thinking about doing any more audio in the future, that gives you the room to play without having to redo the long run

Speakers will sound different in a car than on a display board, making it difficult to judge quality differences. Unfortunately, some companies will actually design their speakers to sound the best on a display board. This is fairly typical of brands sold at Best Buy and Circuit City. Either of the speakers you mentioned will be better than the OEM speakers. Component sets often use higher quality parts and crossovers. They also allow more flexibility in placing the tweeter. Alpine makes decent speakers, but for less money and significantly better sound quality I recommend driver manufacturers more known to home audio hifi speaker builders and audiophile speaker companies.
