trunklid pop / tension bars (gen3/gen4/gen5)?

Hi...

Thanks for the help with the trunk popper... now for the people that said they moved their tension bars (or something like that) for more "pop" when the trunk is released: I'm back. Armed with a photo this time:

Question: Is "A" the part that I need to remove and fit into "B"?
Problem is, A looks like a rivet... nonremovable.

Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance.

see the bar in the back of the picture? the small one running from the end of the "B" and "A" piece? follow that to the other side of the trunk, behind the carpeting. That is where it is adjusted. Same thing on the side you are showing for the bar coming from the right.

Got around to looking at it... it took all of one minute to adjust. =)
Thanks!

It doesn't seem to do much for the "pop" ... but it does make it a little bit easier to open the trunklid.

if you need even more pop, just drill a hole further down on both sides and adjust again

Mmn... drilling... now there's the DIY spirit. =) I'll play with that next weekend.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Any way someone could post up a pic of this again?. I'm tired of the weak pop for my gen 5 trunk it barely opens at all.

I don't have this pic anymore, and it's for a 99 Camry. I imagine it's not much different for the gen5's though, just pull off the side carpeting/trim in the trunk, and you should see steel rods on each side. Mine are bent into a square "S" shape and are approx 3/16" thick, to give you an idea of what you should be looking for.

If you have a spoiler or anything heavy (like Dynamat), the stock holes will probably not help much. I ended up drilling additional holes for higher tension.

If you still can't find it, let me know and I'll snap a pic this weekend or something.

Good luck!

Ok I see the s bent bars that are connected to the trunk but there doesn't seem to be anyway to adjust them where it is connected. I think I'm gonna have to see the pic to see what you are talking about.
